ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT TRAINING FOR WARD LEADERS
Solid waste management remains a serious issue to the urban’s poor. In order to ensure the protection of clean and healthy environment rights, the enforcement of environmental laws must be strengthened and community leaders capacitated so that they are able to provide quality and sustainable legal services to the poor in urban settlements.
Reaching the Unreached Tanzania (RUT) being among the stakeholders, has been working to promote the rights of individuals to live in a clean and healthy environment. Through capacity building, training Community Leaders on the enforcement of existing environmental laws, by-laws, policies and regulations that address solid waste management is essential. The training was participated by Ward Councillors, Village/Ward Executive Officers including Street Chairpersons held from 13thto 14thJan, 2021 at KKKT-Cathedral hall, Dodoma City Council, Dodoma region. Mr. Ally Mfinanga, the City Environmental Officer participated in the training and answered directly some complaints asked by ward and street leaders. Furthermore, the training involved ward councillors and street leaders from all ten wards covered by the project that includes Makole, Majengo, Chang’ombe, Chamwino, Miyuji, Kizota, Ipagala, Nzuguni, Tambuka Reli and Dodoma Makulu.
